Reference #: 4422981 THE POSITION The Pennsylvania Employees Retirement Systems is looking for a college intern with exceptional customer service skills. This position is located within the Member Service Center (MSC) in the Bureau of Communications and Counseling and is the primary call center for the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS). There are 14 staff who handle incoming telephone, email, and written correspondence from members and their representatives. The MSC GSI assists call center staff by performing various routine duties to allow call center representatives to spend more or their time assisting our members.

Students must be able to work a minimum of 10-15 hours every two weeks during the business hours of 8:00 a.m.  - 5:00 p.m. Within these parameters hours are flexible with school schedules. Interns may work up to eight hours a day, 40 hours per week.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Retirement Systems Intern, responsibilities include reviewing documents to ensure accuracy, preparing correspondence for members and their representatives, and transmitting requested information from Authorization to Release Information forms. This position will be afforded the opportunity to assist with data entry from forms and/or for clean-up projects, prepare documents for scanning, send out routine member letters, as well as additional administrative support and routine clerical work as needed. Effective communication is essential in this position due to greeting and addressing concerns of walk-ins with non-counseling issues.

Our ideal candidate must be proficient in Microsoft products including Excel and Word and have telephone etiquette, customer service, and typing skills.

To qualify for the Government Services Intern (GSI) position, a student must be a full-time college student (12 credits or more) and is able to remain employed through the end of the pay period in which they graduate.

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Full-time student (12 credits for undergraduates and 9 credits for graduate students) Enrollment in a post-secondary education program for the next semester Be in good academic standing and be at least eighteen years of age Computer proficiency, customer service, and professional skills Additional Requirements: You must be proficient in Microsoft products including Excel and Word and possess telephone etiquette, customer service and typing skills.
