Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Deputy Director Outdoor Recreation (Administrative Officer 4) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4436617 THE POSITION In this new Commonwealth position of Deputy Director for Pennsylvania's Office of Outdoor Recreation, you will help to unite, grow, and strengthen Pennsylvania's outdoor economy. We seek a dynamic, skilled, and driven professional to make substantial contributions in furtherance of this mission through effective project management, collaborative facilitation, creative analyses, and compelling communication. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position will advance the office's work to develop and expand Pennsylvania's outdoor economy by managing projects and initiatives; convening, coordinating among, and representing the office with outdoor recreation and economic stakeholders; leading research, analysis, resource, and report development; supporting policy development and guidance; participating in public outreach and engagement; and communicating about the value of the outdoors and the office's work.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Will be required to attend events and meetings and that extend beyond normal shift hours. Position will be required to travel throughout PA to attend events and meetings. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Administrative Officer 3; or

Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied officer management of staff work in public or private organization, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, and procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Possess a high level of familiarity with the national and state-level outdoor economy movements including involved industry and government players, policy frameworks and priorities, and successes and challenges. Possess a high level of professional experience working with community and economic development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and workforce development programs, policies, and organizations. Possess a high level of professional experience working with land and recreation management agencies and professionals at the federal, state, and local levels, as well as with related partner organizations such as recreation user and trail organizations, land conservancies, and community-based non-profits. Possess an interest in engaging in a range of outdoor recreation activities and events as a representative of the Office of Outdoor Recreation and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Be comfortable independently traveling to and in remote regions of the Commonwealth, sometimes without cell phone service, including driving on forest roads and in adverse weather conditions and lodging in rustic conditions.
