This Hampton, Virginia area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. You might be a good fit for this position if you have the ability to prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation and be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. This role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. You will be preferred for this role if you have a complex understanding of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.

What you get to do every single day

• Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

• Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner

• Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

• Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

• Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

• Take part in various department-wide initiatives

• Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

• Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision

• In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

• Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting

• Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP Requirements - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases

• Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

• 3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

• Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

• Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

• Current and relevant ERP system experience

• Foundational knowledge in general ledger

• Month-end Close Activities experience

• Account reconciliation experience highly desired

• Deep understanding of general ledger

• Command of journal entries

• Proven knowledge of Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation

• The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

• Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

• Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
