Summary

This Simplot Grower Solutions position is an experienced agronomy sales role. As a local expert, you will advise growers on Simplot Grower Solutions products and technologies for specifically assigned areas of Iowa. You will drive market share growth through adoption of SGS agronomic solutions consisting of seed, bioscience and nutrition, crop protection, consultative services, and digital technologies. You will be responsible for successfully achieving annual goals as well as building brand awareness of Simplot Grower Solutions exclusive brand of Innvictis products and technologies. Individuals must possess extensive experience and a proven track record, as well as being comfortable developing new and expanding sales regions. The role is led under the general direction of the Area Sales Manager, who provides support and leadership to all Crop Advisors within specifically recognized agronomic geographies to achieve the Company’s financial goals and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and live the Simplot brand as the best-in-class Agricultural distributor. Grow new business and manage a customer base within a defined area to meet and exceed area sales and profitability goals and gross margin targets.

  • Position and promote yourself as the trusted advisor and agronomic expert in the region.

  • Provide agronomic whole-farm solution support by providing product selection and placement recommendations in respect to the use of seed, bioscience, crop protection, crop nutrition, digital technology, and other related areas. Emphasize and sell proprietary products where appropriate to maximize profitability.

  • Collaborate with Regional SGS Agronomist, Seed Manager, and SmartFarm Manager as well as local support from our national brand partners to increase knowledge, develop marketing strategies, manage customer relationships, and increase profits in respective Sales Area.

  • Regularly interface with the Region Manager and Market Manager to execute market strategies, report sales trends and competitor activities, as well as opportunities and challenges in the geography.

  • Ensure adequate follow-through regarding operational aspects of the business such as delivery, application and billing are handled appropriately. Regularly and reliably communicate with operations to ensure strong performance in delivery and service outcomes.

  • Maintain customer agronomic records, assist in establishing customer financial records and collaborate with the Area Financial Services Manager in the establishment of credit and resolution of credit matters.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university is preferred (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role).

Relevant Experience

  • Established book-of-business within region highly preferred.

  • Ability to quickly build strategic relationships and influence customer behavior.

  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in agronomy, technology, sales, and marketing.

  • Previous experience as a District, Territory, or Regional Sales Representative would be viewed positively.

  • Having been a part of launch teams for new regions and/or products highly preferred.

  • Required computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Demonstrated focus on meeting customer expectations and working to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with management, other team members, and customers.

  • Individuals must be entrepreneurial minded, self-driven, and customer service-oriented, while being an effective team player.

  • Discipline to work semi-remotely and utilize technology to stay connected with team members.

Required Certifications

  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) preferred.
