Hagerstown Community College Instructional Technologist in Hagerstown, Maryland
::: {#textEditorContainer_1} ::: {contenteditable="false"} SUMMARY STATEMENT The Instructional Technologist assists in the administration of HCCs primary learning management system (LMS) and supports related instructional technology. The technologist works with faculty, students, and staff to meet immediate needs related to distance learning and instructional technology.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The Instructional Technologist reports directly to the Instructional Technology (ITech) Manager.
B. The Instructional Technologist is also responsible to the Dean of Academic Innovation and Instructional Technology (AIandIT). Works closely with the instructional design team, Learning Technology staff, Fletcher Center staff, Information Technology staff, all faculty, and students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. Serve as the official backup to the ITech Manager in administration of the LMS
1.Provide support for the distance learning/LMS Help Desk
2.Work with faculty to troubleshoot issues with course setup or changes
B. Assist with faculty onboarding, training, and support
Work with faculty to support recording and editing of video content
Provide onboarding to the LMS and training for other e-learning tools
C. Assist the Dean of AIandIT with quality assurance, reporting, and special projects
Reviewing courses for minimum institutional standards and accessibility violations
Working with instructors to setup Inclusive Access textbook integrations
D. Serve as backup to the ITech Manager as the Maryland Online site coordinator
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support the Seatbank course exchange
Collaborate with external counterparts in the MOL consortium

Requirements

::: {contenteditable="false"} EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An associate degree is required; a bachelors degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Learning Design or a related field is preferred; 2-3 years of experience in instructional technology, distance learning, or online teaching. Expertise in operation and troubleshooting LMS and other distance learning software, including web-conferencing and screen-capturing. Preference given for experience working with D2L Brightspace, Panopto, Camtasia, help desk software, and training end-users.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong time management and organization skills; competent in the use of technology and educational software; effective and fair communication with a diverse group of stakeholders; ability to establish and maintain working relationships; ability to work independently and make informed decisions in the absence of detailed instructions; ability to respond to emergency situations and prioritize competing functions or demands.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT A. This is a high-stress position involving constant interaction with faculty, staff, students, and other entities regarding LMS administration and other instructional technology-related issues. Normal office environment with frequent job-related interruptions. Occasional eyestrain from substantial computer usage. ::: :::
