Eaton Corporation Senior Engineer - Electrical Digital Design in Hadapsar, India

What you’ll do:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of digital product development methods for electrical products at Eaton. Eaton is developing next generation of smart protection devices such as residential breakers, main hybrid breakers (for both AC and DC), MCCB and air circuit breakers. Digital design includes devicing methods based on AI/ML for new product design requirements validation, historical concepts selections for relevance to new requirements and design concept optimization.

• Serves as a technical lead and/or project lead for capability development on Digital Design with deep knowledge / working experience of Electrical breakers (MCB, MCCB, ACB or Main breakers)

• Understanding of smart features for breakers such as metering, islanding and sensing - Design developments using digital methods for the same

• Understanding and working experience of simulation / data driven design & optimization considering UL and IEC standard requirements

• Developing ML based requirements validation models based on historical data of chosen product line and critical-to-quality parameters

• Historical design data digitization methods development, feature classification and data preparation for ML model development

• Developing ML based models using digitized historical design data and synthetic design data (generated using simulation methods)

• Using ML based methods for concept selection from historical design based on new requirements

• Developing parametric design optimization models (reduced order models) using digital design data and deployment - taking reference of existing designs and creating modifications on top of it

• Brief usage of simulation tools such as Electro-magnetic, structural analysis, dynamics and thermal for synthetic data generation as per the ML model development need

• Knowledge of physics-based shape / topology optimization methods using commercial tools is a plus

• Exposure of AI driven generative design methods for organic shapes and its commercial tools for multi-disciplinary requirements

• Establish connect with Local and Global Eaton IT for standard best practices / processes

• Establish connect with external standard commercial software providers to seek support and solutions pertaining to digital product development, physics driven optimization (topology / generative design)

• Contributes to the value proposition development for technical projects and programs

• Participates in internal open innovation events with businesses & other research groups

• Develops as a subject matter expert through relevant trainings and participation in relevant industry events - network and stay comtemporary on topics in their field

• Gets trained on internal systems & processes and implements them towards projects

• Explore advances in digital design technologies and evaluate their suitability for Eaton products.

• Works collaboratively with digital design team globally to advance the technology.

Qualifications:

Education level required: Master’s Degree (ME) in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering

Years and area of experience required: 5+ years industrial experience working with digital engineering (ML based) and physics based design & development of Breakers with proven record of successful product launch

Technical knowledge:

• Deep knowledge and working experience of different breakers (MCB, MCCB, ACB - Both electro-mechanical as well as solid state devices

• Experience in developing smart features in breakers such as metering, islanding and sensing - Specifically using digital methods

• Experience in developing and deploying ML based methods for product requirements validation, design selection and optimization

• Experience digitizing design information such as 2D drawings and 3D models either using commercial solutions or local developments

• Demonstrated experience in ML model development, model selection, model training / validation

• Brief experience working with general purpose simulation tools

• Proficiency in programming languages - Python, R, VBA

• Experience working with generative / topology optimization solutions for multi-disciplinary requirements

• Six Sigma certifications are a plus.

• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
