Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead FP&A – Freight India BU, is the point of contact for the BU financial closing, reporting and analysis. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the monthly financial close process, strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the sites.

This position is a member of a cross-functional site team and must be able to partner with leaders from other areas of the business including but not limited to Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Project Management and Human Resources, to achieve the business plan and would lead the finance planning and analysis in India for Locomotive Services Business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • FP&A

  • Accountable for BU financial planning & analysis to enable business meet its financial and budget targets

  • Management of the monthly financial close process. Generating financial statements in accordance with local and US GAAP.

  • Gain and maintain deep understanding of the business unit’s financial health and KPIs. Actively engage in preparation and participation for various reviews

  • Development of a sound annual budget and 3-year strategic plan.

  • Developing accurate and predictable business monthly and quarterly forecasts. Report on the financial past, present and future performance of the business unit, with a deep understanding for the drivers behind variances (including earnings, expenses, and future operations). Review monthly results to forecast to understand potential risks and opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting practices and procedures and internal controls. Ensure complete compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements, ensuring procedures and internal controls are in place each respective business unit within the Group.

  • Support analytics around site metrics to enable visibility of productivity ideas and cost optimization

  • Strong cost accounting and manufacturing background as understanding of costs and variances are key to the profitability of the Company. Work with Site Operation teams, Sourcing, Material Operations to understand root cause of all cost variances.

  • Manage working capital metrics including Cash, accounts receivables and accounts payables.

  • Ability to developing new business models for various opportunities and for tendering/bid management.

  • Operations Finance

  • Own site operating expenses (fixed and variable).

  • Develop accurate and predictable forecasts.

  • Drive business performance, monitor KPIs

  • Report Financials in comparison with IOP, Pacing and clearly explain variances. Ensure deep understanding of all the cost drivers behind variances.

  • Manage working capital metrics like Inventory and A/Payable (including control over PRs/POs, BGs, GRN workflows, PPV analysis)

  • Involve and support analytics for productivity and cost optimization projects on Site Opex, People cost, consumables and Inventory levels optimization

  • Ensure adequate control over Site Fixed Assets, capitalization processes and timelines, along with physical verification.

  • Support Internal and Sox audits related requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of multi-faceted experience in Business finance or FP&A or commercial finance

  • CA / MBA Finance

  • Strong ERP/planning/ cost tracking system experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional areas in the business

  • Strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Superior, proficient use of excel for financial modeling

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience of working in a multi-functional Finance organization is preferred

  • Ability to work and prioritize under tight deadlines

  • Ability to summarize and communicate effectively with cross-functional areas in the business and with executives

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
