Robert Half's new Controller opening will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful company. The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Greenwood Village, Colorado region. In this role, it will be critical for you to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

  • Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Intercompany Accounting experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of CPA Designation

  • Strong familiarity with treasury

  • High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Strong analytical capabilities and discernment

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
