Eaton Corporation EHS Analyst in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a EHS Analyst in Greenwood, SC.

The EHS Analyst supports environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS) efforts at the site. This includes supporting achievement of EHS objectives and targets, internal reporting of EHS performance, communication of regulatory requirements, and organized documentation. You will also support MESH assessment program; drive incident/injury management actions; report EHS metrics; track closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings; administer EHS specific training for the location; support actions during crises, and support the creation of a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the location.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

  • You will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of MESH (Management System of Environmental, Safety, Security and Health) and will utilize MESH tools to drive improvements.

  • Overall responsibility for the performance and ethical compliance of environmental regulations applicable to the operations.

  • Evaluates existing and proposed federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations with assistance of in house or external resources, if necessary, to establish their potential impact on plant’s operations. Define and recommend environmental controls, projects and/ or programs necessary to assure regulatory compliance.

  • Provided the needed assistance in environmental engineering or regulatory affairs to EHS Manager or facility/utility department within the operational activities of the environmental programs to ensure compliance (e.g. Waste Water Disposal, Waste Management (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Universal, Recycling, Biohazard, etc.), Air Emissions Asbestos, Refrigerants.)

  • Ensure confidential, discreet handling of sensitive and proprietary information and tact and initiative in contacts with company employees, management and external regulatory/legal agencies or sources.

  • Evaluate and approve, environmental SOP, purchase of equipment and materials, capital appropriation requests (CAR) and request for disposal of assets.

  • Evaluates and approves manifests on behalf of the company for the outside transportation and destruction of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations across all functions to ensure compliance to MESH guidelines and persuade or lead teams to effective resolutions. Management of EHS Training tracking program.

  • Establishes and maintains policies, programs and standard operating procedures in the environmental area, such as air program, waste management, WWTP SOPs, SPCC, and SWPPP among others.

  • Supports efforts to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.

  • Create and maintain training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion

  • Works with EHS leader and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.

  • Compile and analyze MESH data for monthly metrics and MESHPrism data base to include corrective action tracking, MESH scoring, and incident rates

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, EHS Sciences, or related field

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now and in the future.

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area of Greenwood, SC (50 miles) will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in EHS

  • 3+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training

  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), along with Benchmark, Ease, or similar software

Skills:

  • Comprehension of Eaton, federal, state, and county EHS requirements.

  • Keeps updated with law, regulations, standards, and MESH corporate guidelines related to environmental affairs.

  • Strong team building & organizational skills

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA & DOT federal, state and local regulations

  • Ability to demonstrate managerial courage (e.g., managing varied interests representing potential conflicts)

  • Ability to lead and support cross functional EHS teams

  • Self-motivated/directed individual with demonstrated written and verbal skills, along with great organization, communication, project leadership and teaming abilities.

  • Knowledge and/or experience driving process improvements and sustaining implementation to prevent future incidents.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to accomplish tasks.
