In support of the Gas Power business, this controls engineering position in the Control Systems Technology team is responsible for developing, validating, and productizing advanced gas turbine controls solutions.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

The Lead GT NPI Controls Development Engineer is a lead professional engineer that is responsible for developing and validating GT controls solutions in support of customer projects. This includes requirements management, design, development, simulation verification, field validation on customer project sites, and documentation related to advanced gas turbine controls system development in support of the Gas Power Business.

The Lead GT NPI Controls Development Engineer will be challenged to work with GT systems and component Gas Turbine Engineering teams to define and deliver controls features as part of standard software library releases to be used by the controls project execution team to fulfill on advanced gas turbine projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with GT Systems and design engineers of various disciplines to surface and drive gas turbine control system and accessories equipment requirements.

  • Collaborate with and maintain close, responsive, and productive working relationships with the Controls standards and project execution teams.

  • Work with Controls Development Product Owner to plan quarterly milestones and sprint commitments.

  • Be a Technical Mentor to the team as needed.

  • Drive ownership and incorporate lessons learned from validation and field experience into software standards.

  • Support controls project execution engineer from project launch through commissioning.

  • Function as a Team Leader throughout the NPI Controls Development Process on assigned projects and programs

  • Be an empowered program level decision maker.

  • Provide clear communication of development status to the team and the business leaders

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or Computer) OR a High School Diploma/ GED with 7 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in engineering.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Control Systems, Ladder-logic, and HMI user interface.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% for controls field validation and customer meetings, as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives.

  • Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence and lead others.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

  • MS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical or Computer)

  • Experience in design & application of GE power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems

  • Strong experience in power generation project execution, working with customers, project mgt. or EPCs.

  • Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and/or Plant controls knowledge / experience

  • Controls experience with demonstrated knowledge of GE ToolboxST application code programming with Mark*VIe controllers.

  • Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills to the team and business leaders.

  • Experience on customer sites supporting controls commissioning, validation testing, or issue resolution.

  • Enthusiastic self-starter who leads by example, sets stretch goals and is committed to team building

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $85,600.00 - 142,600.00 USD Annual.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
