Army National Guard Units SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR - TITLE 32 in Greenville, Kentucky

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1285000 and is part of the KY UTES, National Guard. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC INSPECTOR - TITLE 32, WG-5801-11, you will inspect a large variety of heavy-duty mobile equipment and automotive vehicles. Inspect heavy artillery, small arms, powered support and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity. Assist higher-graded inspectors to perform inspections on equipment repairs. Inspect complex, interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic and electrical systems, equipment and their components while in operation or in a standby condition. Inspect and perform tests to braking, steering, large engines, intricate fuel injection systems, turret stabilization systems, and other systems combined in a single, complex mechanical assembly. Use specially designed testing methods and test equipment to assure that tolerance and safety factors have been met. Inspect equipment to determine repairs needed. Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommend to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair costs exceed the established MEL. Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Perform in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. Perform final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or reject the work and return the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs. Serve as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT). Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: E5 (SGT) - W2 (CW2) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
