Robert Half Health Information Management Technician in Greensburg, Pennsylvania

Description

We are in search of a Health Information Management Technician to become a part of our healthcare team based in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The Health Information Management Technician role involves the processing of medical records and maintaining communication with customers, among other administrative duties in a standard office setting. The Health Information Management Technician offers a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately process paper portions of medical records and incorporate them into the electronic medical record system

• Scan paper records using high-speed batch scanners

• Perform Quality Control and Validation steps to ensure the scanned documents belong to the correct patient, are linked to the right encounter, and are indexed to the correct document type

• Maintain accurate customer credit records and take necessary actions on customer accounts

• Answer phone calls in a professional manner and operate fax and copy machines

• Use the Microsoft Office suite and email to perform basic computer tasks

• Apply knowledge of medical terminology in the day-to-day tasks

• Provide excellent customer service and support to customers

• Prepare paper records for scanning and ensure proper indexing of paper documents

• Maintain a professional and supportive phone presence while dealing with inbound calls.

Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

• Experience with office functions such as faxing, scanning documents, and prepping paper documents for distribution

• Strong customer service skills and experience answering inbound calls

• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and medical terminology

• Experience working in a medical office environment

• Ability to support workstation and provide technical support when needed

• Basic understanding of HealthCare.gov and TRICARE systems

• Proficiency in R Code and validation plans

• Strong computer skills, including the ability to learn new software quickly

• Experience with quality control processes, particularly in relation to medical records

• Familiarity with offshore work environments

• Strong phone presence and video conferencing skills

• Experience with NIS (Network Information System)

• Ability to handle physical documents such as medical records and paper documents

• Basic understanding of medical terminology and the healthcare industry

• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
