Position Summary:

As an infusion nurse, you work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide quality, patient-centered care. Nurse must utilize assessment skills and clinical protocol guidelines in a decision-making capacity to provide patient care safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

What you will do:

  • Patient assessments

  • Telephone triage

  • IV insertions

  • Central line maintenance and care

  • Phlebotomy

  • Blood product administration

  • Medication administration included chemotherapy and immunotherapy

  • Infection prevention guideline adherence

  • Provide individualized patient and caregiver education

  • Communication with ordering providers and care team

  • Monitoring for infusion complications

  • Management of side effects

  • Medication refills and education

  • Prioritization: able to prioritize and reprioritize patient care continuously

  • Nursing Process: able to assess, analyze, plan, implement and evaluate care

  • Safe care: consistently uses two patient identifiers (name and date of birth) for ALL patient care

  • Resource Utilization: able to consistently demonstrate utilization of policies, procedures, and clinical resources

  • Time Management: able to complete interventions and holistically manage a patient assignment

  • Delegation: able to delegate appropriate tasks while maintaining accountability

What you will need:

  • Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited school of nursing

  • Baccalaureate Degree in the Science of Nursing (BSN) Degree or enrollment in a BSN program from an accredited school of nursing. Completion required within 4 years of hire.

  • Valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure authorized in the state of Michigan

  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card

  • BLS Provider Card

  • Oncology Nursing Certification (preferred)

  • At least 2 years nursing experience in oncology care setting

  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (preferred)

  • Oncology experience preferred
