Eaton Corporation Government Accountant in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Eaton’s AER Aerospace Group division is currently seeking a Government Accountant. This is an onsite position based in our Irvine, CA, Beachwood, OH, or Grand Rapids, MI location.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year.

The Government Accounting Analyst will be responsible for the following processes: a) development of the forward pricing IHO cost allocations, business segments’ and Engineering COE’s forward pricing direct labor and indirect cost rates; development of annual actual rates and incurred cost proposals in compliance with applicable government accounting regulations and standards, b) supporting internal and external DCAA, DCMA and MOD UK audits related to forward pricing rate and incurred cost proposals, business systems, CAS and other compliance areas as needed. In addition, the Government Accounting Analyst will be responsible for supporting CAS Disclosure Statements update, conducting compliance self-assessments and assist management with closing gaps through development and implementation of the corrective action plans; providing compliance training on government accounting-related requirements to other Eaton Aerospace employees and may lead and work on special cross functional, process improvement and internal compliance assessment projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the establishment and maintenance of US Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) Disclosure Statements and assist management with cost impact analysis when needed.

  • Under management supervision develop forward pricing, provisional billing rates and incurred costs claims, as applicable.

  • Monitor cost allowability and ensure that unallowable costs properly identified, segregated and removed form claimed costs in the FPRP, ICS and billings.

  • Work closely with accounting and pricing staff to ensure utilization of the correct indirect rates in the proposals development process.

  • Support internal and external government audits and inquiry matters. Maintain adequate audit related records and documentation.

  • Assist management with annual compliance risk assessment, compliance monitoring programs development and conduct routine compliance self-assessments as needed. Monitor and report to the Management on internal control gaps and associated corrective action plans.

  • Support management in conducting government contract accounting training to employees from various functions to assure that company personnel have the job knowledge to fulfill obligations imposed by U.S. Government Contract accounting and business system requirements.

  • Assist management with development and implementation of the new ERPs, financial and indirect rate systems development.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of government accounting/finance experience within the Aerospace or Defense industry.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Irvine, CA, Beachwood, OH or Grand Rapids, MI facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of fundamental requirements of FAR Part 30 &31, CAS 401,402, 405, 406, 418, 410 and 420.

  • Working experience with government contract billings, forward pricing bid rate/pricing and ICS proposal development for the sites with manufacturing and Engineering R&D contracts.

  • Working knowledge of advanced accounting and ERP systems (SAP and Oracle preferred).

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Applications.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills (run macros, pivot tables, V lookups, perform calculations and automation to process large volumes of data).
