UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-levelStudent Video Assistantto joinVideo & Collaboration Services, a unit within UFIT.
Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.
UFIT Video & Collaboration Services provides the latest video and data collaboration technology to the University of Florida. Our goal is to connect you to your colleagues and content in the most efficient way possible. With services such as video production and streaming, we make presentations viewable to more people, lectures available to more students, and information instantly accessible to the Web-wide audience. Transcending borders, our videoconferencing service allows users at multiple locations to meet in virtual conference rooms. We eliminate the need for long distance travel, thereby saving travel funds, increasing productivity, and reducing the carbon footprint of the University of Florida.
This entry-level student position will be responsible for working with a wide array of technologies including streaming media, video & audio production, videoconferencing, and related software/hardware solutions. Students will be expected to respond to customer requests via telephone, chat, and email, in order to resolve basic customer issues on their own or escalate advanced issues to a full-time staff member. No experience with AV-related technologies is required; however, a basic understanding and a high level of interest is preferred. Training will be provided. In addition, all applicants will perform general office duties (including answering phones, transferring calls, receiving orders, etc.) and must be proficient with Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite. Self-motivation, strong attention to detail, and excellent written/verbal communication skills are essential.
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
· Assisting Students, Faculty, and Staff with Zoom and Mediasite issues
· Operating basic A/V Equipment for live events
· Monitoring Classroom Lectures Recorded via Mediasite
· Provide in-call support during Zoom events
