Decisive Point Consulting Group, LLC SATELLITE ENGINEER in Frederick, Maryland

Essential Functions:

Perform mission planning, engineering, implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting as required to support users requiring GAIT services. Network Engineers know the Army’s network architecture and have the skills to understand emerging technologies. This knowledge includes all variations of the Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (WIN-T) network and configuration and the implementation processes and procedures associated with each. They also understand tactical satellite (TACSAT) equipment and how it is integrated into the overall network. Network Engineers quickly assess network outages and degradations and implement remediation in a quick and resourceful manner. They are prepared to offer troubleshooting assistance over the telephone resulting in problem resolution. First and foremost, for this mission they understand routing and traffic flow at the RHNs and Unit Hub Nodes (UHNs).

Knowledges and skills include a good-to-excellent ability to install, operate, maintain and troubleshoot the following equipment/systems:

  • Linkway modems

  • Radyne Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) modems.

  • Network-Centric Waveform (NCW) modems.

  • Linkway Network Control Center (NCC) workstations.

  • iDirect networks.

  • Design, operate, maintain and troubleshoot Internet Protocol (IP) Networks to include CISCO products.

  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot a call manager to include building voice trunks; understanding call setups, and call traffic flow.

  • REDCOM switches, and Voice Gateway Routers (VGRs) routers and switches to include loading configurations.

  • Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).

  • Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol.

  • Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Networks (DMVPN).

  • Multicast.

  • Riverbed wide area network (WAN) accelerators.

  • Policy-Based Routing (PBR) and Web Cache Communications Protocol (WCCP).

  • Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS).

  • MPLS Layer 2 VPN (L2VPN) and MPLS Layer 2 VPN (L3VPN).

  • Cisco firewalls/Intrusion Protection Systems (IPSs). CISCO Security Manager (CSM).

  • Palo Alto virtual firewalls and the Palo Alto Panorama firewall management tool.

  • KG-175A and KG-175D model TACLANEs or similar encryption devices. KIV-7Ms.

  • VMware vSphere 6.0 (VMware Certified Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)).

  • NETOPS tools and applications to include Simple Network Management Protocol – Castle Rock Computing (SNMPc), Solarwinds, Solarwinds Orion Network Management (NPM), RADIUS, and Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System (TACACS).

    Required Experience:

Candidates should meet the following requirements in order to be considered for this position;

  • Experience: Five to Eight years’ experience as a Network Engineering working on Army satellite communications systems or a similar system

  • Clearance Required – Active Secret Clearance

  • Education: BS degree in technical field (computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or similar) highly preferred.
