The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators and serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

What will you be doing?

  • Report to the MSEHSE Group Finance Chief Operating Officer (COO) providing direct support to the MSEHSE Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and wider MSEHSE Finance management in the operations of the MSEHSE Finance division and the execution of divisional and firm strategy.
  • Execute the MSEHSE Finance department's people agenda including recruitment, career development and employee engagement.
  • Co-ordinate divisional governance materials for use at both executive and non-executive governance forums (including management and supervisory boards and their committees).
  • Provide project/ programme management and reporting to enable the delivery of high-quality cross-Finance regulatory and compliance driven projects, workshops, information requests and initiatives, including compiling and reviewing of materials and assisting with the coordination of gap analyses.
  • Support Finance in its engagement with the ECB and provide central coordination for, and challenge of, regulatory communications and responses across the Division.
  • Oversee divisional compliance with local and firmwide outsourcing control and governance requirements.
  • Co-ordinate MSEHSE Finance operational risk activities, partnering closely with the global Finance Risk and Assurance team, including but not limited to reviewing the closure evidence to Audit and regulatory findings and representing MSEHSE Finance at key operational risk forums.
  • Develop strong professional relationships with key stakeholders across other divisions including HR, Legal and Compliance, Corporate Services, Risk and Firm Management functions and represent MSEHSE Finance at relevant firmwide forums.
  • Provide Project Management/ PMO support ad doc projects.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience at a global financial institution preferably in the Finance division or a similar control function.
  • Experience in / knowledge of the workings of the finance division and the broader regulatory framework in which the financial services industry operates an advantage. Interest in these topics a requirement.
  • Appreciation of operational risk concepts including identification, assessment, monitoring, reporting and remediation of operational risks.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines and to influence global stakeholders.
