Omnicell, Inc. Director, Software Engineering in Fort Worth, Texas
The Director, Software Engineering will be responsible for the overall performance of their software development teams in support of the company vision to deliver intelligent patient engagement and communication solutions to optimize lifelong health. This role leads multiple EnlivenHealth™ engineering teams driving the transformation of retail pharmacy with a platform providing clinical solutions and omnichannel communications to improve patient health outcomes. Working in a fast-paced, focused development environment, this leader will establish processes and procedures, define realistic targets and milestones for deliverables, and serve as a mentor and coach to his team. This person will also work hand in hand with the product team to ensure proper definition and feature set.
Responsibilities
Lead a staff of highly talented engineers responsible for product development and integration across all organizational functions from design to deployment.
Interact with key customers and suppliers as required
Deliver new products that delight our customers and users at scale
Provide engineering management oversight of product development of complex software systems incorporating SaaS, databases, networking, UX Web/Mobile and client/server architectures as well as implementing and maintaining engineering development processes
Proven ability to work within project deadlines with a focus towards customer value.
Manage fiscal plan regarding yearly total budget for labor costs, tools, and capital expenditures
Responsible for recruiting, motivating, and directing the efforts of the software engineering team
Collaborate with the architecture and platform teams on continuous improvement in all aspects of the SDLC.
Partner with architecture teams to understand design patterns and drive the development teams to execute on the architecture design.

Required Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate will have successful management and team building experience in a rapid growth environment, proven technical accomplishments, and proven experience bringing new products with high reliability to market.
Deep experience building web-based applications and RESTful APIs
Comfortable deploying service oriented and microservices architectures
Ability to create and deploy event-driven architectures using messaging systems/service bus with technologies such as Kafka or ActiveMQ
Working experience with one of JavaScript Frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, JQuery)
Comfortable shipping new features in a SPA environment
Experience scaling and deploying applications in the public cloud using technologies like AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
Ability to balance driving the right architecture but realizing the realities of having customers and the need to ship software
Excellent cross functional management experience, works well with other departments, especially with Product and Operations teams
Experience leading and managing managers, architects, software engineers, directly and in matrixed teams in a global setting
Demonstrated ability to build upon culture, manage change and engage and motivate teams
Excellent presentation skills for internal and external customer communications
A can-do attitude and ability to make a positive impact on our culture
Ability to always put the customer first
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
15+ years in software development at increasing levels of scope and leadership
6+ years of experience building web-based applications
2+ years leading multiple software engineering teams
Experience in B2B and enterprise software companies
Preferred Qualifications
M.S degree in Computer Science or related technical field
Healthcare software development experience is a plus
Experience building complex user workflows with modern UI technologies
Experience working with geographically distributed teams in delivering high-quality product(s)
Work Conditions
Onshore/Remote environment
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Teams are primarily based on the east coast
