Description of Work Unit

CEMML is a research, education and service unit within the Warner College of Natural Resources at CSU . CEMML applies the latest and most appropriate science to promote the sustainable management of natural and cultural resources on Department of Defense ( DOD ) and other public lands. We provide technical support, conduct applied research, and offer career development and learning opportunities to support resource stewardship. We collaborate with our sponsors and within CSU to resolve complex environmental issues, leaving a legacy of science-based decisions that sustain our resources for future generations. Position Summary

An Environmental Systems Project Lead position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands ( CEMML ). This position is 100% remote and supports Air Force installations worldwide. The position is responsible for providing pollution prevention expertise to support the Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Support Management Information System.

Required Job Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • A B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field and 8 years supporting environmental compliance initiatives.

  • Experience developing training materials and providing classroom instruction to large groups.

  • Direct experience with Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Management Information System ( EESOH - MIS ) is necessary.

  • Experience writing procedures and policy and supervisory experience required.

  • Experience traveling worldwide including the Middle East (must be willing to travel)

  • Vast experience in the business practices of Air Force, Air Reserve, and Air National Guard installations world-wide along with knowledge of all the variations of their practices combined with local/foreign regulations.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications

The successful candidate may have:

  • Post-graduate degree preferred.

  • Experience working in a highly structured organization, such as on a military installation.

  • Experience interacting with DoD command staff and high-level stakeholders.

  • Project management and environmental compliance program experience.

  • Knowledge of federal and US Air Force regulations regarding environmental compliance and hazardous waste.

  • Subject Matter Expert provides guidance to AFCEC headquarters for the Air Force Pollution Prevention, Hazardous Materials, and Hazardous Waste programs across all AF installations.

  • Lead and/or participate in working groups to problem solve pollution prevention efforts (e.g. shelf-life management).

  • Develop and review data, provide analysis and provide input to ensure compliance and correct deficiencies.

  • Communicate pollution prevention efforts from within the Air Force headquarters to all installations, as well as present communication of programs at the installation level to headquarters.

  • Prepare briefings and staff packages for higher headquarters (Pentagon level).

  • Develop and write policy as required. Communicate with all levels of management and workers to provide support to programs.

  • Provide training and assistance to lower-level technicians.

  • Ensure two-way flow of information between headquarters and installations.

  • Write monthly reports.
