McLaren Health Care Manager System Lab Section - McLaren Careers in Flint, Michigan

Position Summary

:

Provides overall technical direction and administration to personnel in lab section, ensuring system of laboratory testing operates efficiently and effectively. Regularly reviews and revises, as necessary, laboratory standards and ensures diagnostic procedures for section performed comply with all system and regulatory agency standards. Coordinates provision of laboratory section services and serves as technical resource for departmental personnel. Meets and consults with director of laboratory section for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and LIS.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

:

  1. Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic laboratory section procedures in accordance with all system and regulatory agency standards.

  2. Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.

  3. Develops, secures approval of and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives. Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.

  4. Services as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.

  5. Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases.

  6. Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, warding bids.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related fields.

  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent.

  • Four years of experience in related discipline.

  • Two years of supervisory or managerial experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in medical technology, business administration or health services administration.

  • Current state driver’s license, current proof of insurance, a reliable vehicle and maintain a driving record according to McLaren corporation standards.
