Job Description:

  • Supports the Country/Assigned Countries in fulfilling their responsibility in the area of occupational safety and environmental protection.

  • Ensures that all applicable legal and Siemens internal requirements (Corporate, Business Unit) in the area of EHS are implemented and that a certifiable EHS Management System is maintained and effective.

  • Provides support to the other Assigned Countries organizations.

  • Sets and implements Country/ Assigned Countries EHS roadmap based on business strategy and Corporate / Business EHS roadmap.

  • Guides and leads the Country/ Assigned Countries in the planning, execution, ongoing analysis, and improvement of EHS-related measures.

  • Verifies that legal requirements and the EHS Policies Frameworks have been fulfilled by all Company Units operating in the Assigned Countries.

  • Maintains and fosters close interaction with respective Countries' CEOs, Regional EHS officer, and Global Business Units counterparts.

  • Creates new solutions for various work processes: Experimenting with new and unconventional ways to solve problems, Creating an environment (culture) that inspires people to generate novel solutions with measurable impact, Encouraging experimentation with new ways to solve work problems, Internal stakeholders management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Heads assigned countries EHS organization and leads all related management and staff and reports to Regional EHS Officer and Local Country CEO.

  • Serves as primary key contact for all EHS matters assigned within the area of EHS responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Assigned Countries management team, other support functions and services, and all relevant interfaces globally to achieve the EHS policy objectives.

  • Contributes to / supports/leads projects of Global EHS DI SW Roadmap. Adapts, promotes, and implements global EHS programs and initiatives and monitors their effectiveness.

  • Plans and aligns the budget and personnel resources for EHS in the Country/ Assigned Countries. Participates in the selection/staffing of EHS positions.

  • Ensures an adequate competence management and training system for EHS-related competencies within their team and assigned countries' organizations.

  • Ensures EHS Management System implementation and drives continuous improvement for the Country organization.

  • Plans, implements, and follows up on the audit/assessment/inspections program (including certification audits where applicable).

  • Participates in the Siemens Country/ Assigned Countries Crisis Management Team.

  • Ensures that applicable statutory requirements are identified and accorded to.

  • Ensures implementation of EHS-related risk management in processes, projects, and products.

  • Ensures and controls EHS-related reporting as to local and Siemens requirements.

  • Ensures adequate EHS-related communication with internal and external stakeholders and authorities.

  • Monitors, assists, coaches, assesses, and develops the EHS communities in the Country/ Assigned Countries.

  • Applies and verifies implementation of ISO principles and requirements.

  • Enables translation into processes, practices and action.

  • Supports others in the use of EHS guidelines, instructions, practices and processes.

  • Knows the mutual dependency (Input / Output) of MS elements and corresponding EHS processes

  • Uses and contributes to MS documentation.

  • Has deep knowledge about applicable requirements and regulations in a broad range of EHS topic areas.

  • Understands their implication for business and advises the organization in meeting requirements timely and effectively; Knows when and which EHS experts need to be called in.

  • Uses and combines tools, methods and KPIs; Understands the processes behind the tool and is able to coach or train others.

  • Contributes to and challenges the development of EHS audit methods and tools; Creates EHS audit and assessment programs; Acts a an experienced lead auditor.

  • Establishes and maintains high-quality incident management process; Decides on methodologies and manages incidents of high severity; Consults and supports responsible management; Acts as an experienced lead incident investigator

  • Leads the project according to the budget and results (orientation)

  • Continuously identifies project status and challenging situations and defines appropriate measures to meet the project’s objectives.

  • Initiates, maintains and makes use of sustainable partnerships and widespread networks relevant for business success with internal as well as external partners, making sustainable decisions, solving problems and leveraging value potentials.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Advanced work experience in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS); Typically 8 years of relevant Health and Safety experience ideally within data center or large-scale engineering environments

  • Previous site related experience from relevant business

  • Expert knowledge of in country legislation and compliance (UK & Ireland) is mandatory

  • A Bachelor’s degree, in a related occupational safety and/or environmental protection field

  • Chartered membership of one or more of the Professional Organisations in Occupational Safety Health and Environment undertaking a scheme of Continuous Professional Development (e.g GradIOSH status)

  • Expert level knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental management), ISO 50001 (Energy management), ISO 45001 (Occupational health and safety management), management system and implementing / managing management system elements (i.e. ISO Lead Auditor Qualification).

  • Gained IEMA Full Membership in Sustainable Business Practice.

  • Degree in technical education and/or EHS related / relevant fields and/or recognized certificates (e.g. NEBOSH level 6).

  • Evidenced training / expertise in the broader spectrum of EHS topics

  • Level 3 Certificate in fire risk assessment.
