With more than 100 years of leadership in the field, we are committed to promoting population health, protecting public health and the environment, and ensuring residents' equitable access to health services and information.

Under the direction of the required provisions of the Virginia Department of Health-Targeted Community Outreach (TCO) funding allocation memorandum and Health Human Services Office of Minority Health Grant (HHS-OMH) and reporting to the FCHD Community Health Division Director, the Public Health Youth Ambassador Program (PHYAP) MAIII Program Manager (S-27) will serve to expand capacity to implement the Public Health Youth Ambassador Program. The program trains high school students from underserved communities as Community Health Workers (CHWs). The program seeks to increase diversity among health professionals, change the participant’s career trajectory and give them tools to build generational health. The PHYA program helps students from underserved communities gain the essential knowledge, experience and skills that can lead to a successful public health career where they will help define future culturally relevant solutions and transform policy and practice.

As part of normal project operations, the program manager position works with fellow staff members to ensure adherence to the project plan, priorities and activities that are based on the education and program implementation model. This position helps to establish and cultivate strategic relationships to further inform and support the implementation of the PHYAP program throughout the county.
