Global Foundries Device Engineering Manager in Essex Junction, Vermont

Summary of Role:GlobalFoundries' Research and Development and Product Line Organizations are looking for engineering managers with industry experience in developing high performing CMOS, SiGe and/or wide bandgap device technologies for RF and/or power applications. Managers needed to lead teams of device engineers driving innovative fab based technology development for leading edge solutions for a broad range of applications in Burlington, VT. Successful applicants will become a member of a broader center of excellence in technology development and part of a global development infrastructure driving innovation across dozens of technology platforms. Engineers with a Masters or Ph. D. degree and over 5 years of industry R&D experience in semiconductor devices are strongly preferred.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage small team of semiconductor device engineers

  • Use expertise to provide feedback to technology competitive analysis, targets, and development plans.

  • Coach device engineers in the elements of R&D, including literature search, competitive analysis, device development strategy, TCAD support, split planning, analysis and effective decision making.

  • Work with other teams, including characterization, TCAD, integration, and unit process development to ensure both seamless teamwork and the effectiveness of the device team in driving toward technology development goals, including overall technology qualification.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, leading essential technology development sub-projects and critical device projects and demonstrating by example when appropriate.

  • Contribute to support of an organized development infrastructure of standardized automated reporting, prompt analysis and decision making, and documentation of learning, and transfer of knowledge.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education - Ph.D. with 5 years or master’s degree with 7 years of working experience in relevant field. Degree must be in Electrical Engineering, Solid State Physics, or other relevant engineering physical science discipline.

  • Background in device physics, modeling, and characterization.

  • Industry experience in developing CMOS, SiGe and/or wide bandgap devices

  • Experience in TCAD simulation.

  • Experience in leading a device or process development project.

  • Experience in leading teams.

  • Strong data analysis skills – experience with data analysis tools and languages.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

  • Ability to relocate to Essex Junction, VT (this is not a remote position)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Device and material systems experience in one or more of the following: CMOS, SiGe, BJTs, or wide bandgap devices.

  • Semiconductor processing experience and understanding.

  • Experience with Cadence or any other layout and simulation tool.

  • Strong written, verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.

  • Experience leading an interdisciplinary team.

  • Self-starter and highly motivated to succeed in a fast-paced and challenging professional environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a global cross functional team environment.

  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Strong planning & organizational skills.

Expected Salary Range

$104,000.00 - $198,000.00
