Heartbeat Music Academy Teacher Aide in Escondido, California

Definition

Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Aide will be responsible for aiding and supporting the assigned Teacher in the care, development, and supervision of children of the age group and classroom assigned. The Aide age group assignment may be one or more of the following: Infant, Toddler, or Preschool. The Aide age group is contingent upon meeting the qualification requirements for Aide in accordance with the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing.

The essential responsibilities of the Aide include but are not limited to assisting the Teacher with the care and development of each child assigned assisting the Teacher to develop and implement daily developmentally appropriate lesson plans for the age group assigned assisting the Teacher to deliver teaching strategies, design, and manage learning environments in accordance to the guidelines of the California Department of Education Early Learning Foundations assigned Environmental Rating Scale such as Infant Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS) or Preschool Environmental Rating Scale (ECERS).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the observation of infants and toddlers.
  • Assisting in supervising and implementing the program for the group in accordance with the policies procedures and philosophies of specified within Title 5 and Title 22 regulations and HBMPAA Preschool 4 the Arts program.
  • Record daily services provided to each child within the My Day Log (i.e., meals, food, naps, and daily activities).
  • Assisting as needed when the Teacher conducts parent-teacher conferences according to the timelines specified with the DRDP 2015 as the need arises.
  • Assisting in the order arrangement design, appearance, and safety of learning environments.
  • Ensure daily sanitation of material, equipment, inclusive of laundering bedding, washcloths and bibs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates are required to either enroll in child development classes within 90 days of employment or be currently enrolled in child development classes with at least 6 credits within 6 months of enrollment.
  • By the end of the first program year, must provide proof of enrollment in Child Growth and Development.
  • Must complete 8 hours of Health and Safety training. Additionally, the Infant Teacher must complete Mandated Reporting Training, CPR, and First Aide Training.
  • Bilingual skills may be required based on enrollment.
  • Physical, TB clearance, and Background Clearance (DOJ/FBI/CACI) are required prior to the start of employment.

Employment Period

Based on funding awards from the Center Based General Childcare (CCTR) or CSPP program, the Aide will be employed for a maximum of 250 days per program year.

Salary and Benefits

The Aide will be compensated based on the Adopted Salary and Benefits Schedule approved by the Board of Directors.

Pursuant to the Employee Handbook and based on funding availability, Aide will be afforded Health, Dental, and Vision. In instances of termination or voluntary resignation, employees will be afforded continuation of benefits based on the regulations outlined within COBRA.

Performance Evaluation

The Teacher will be evaluated by the Center Director formally and informally with input from the Teacher to provide continuous feedback for staff development and growth. By the 1st month of employment, the Center Director will complete the ECERS and Child Development Monitoring Review.
