Robert Half is partnering with a growing Telecom company in the Denver area on a VP Controller opening. The VP Controller will report to the CFO and have the ability to grow their own team. The Controller will be part of a rapidly growing telecommunications company backed by private equity, committed to providing innovative solutions and exceptional service to our customers. With a focus on expansion and market leadership, we are seeking a talented and experienced VP Controller to join our dynamic team and drive financial excellence as we embark on our journey of growth.

As the VP Controller, you will play a pivotal role in leading the financial strategy and operations ensuring alignment with our growth objectives and private equity stakeholders' expectations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, planning, analysis, and compliance. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to provide strategic insights and support decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits and filings.

Operational Excellence:

  • Streamline financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and scalability, supporting the company's rapid growth trajectory.

  • Implement best practices in financial management, including cash flow optimization, working capital management, and cost controls.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial policies and procedures to maintain operational excellence.

Accounting Operations:

  • Direct the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, reconciliations, and journal entries.

  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support business operations and investment decisions.

  • Review and approve capital expenditure requests and monitor capitalization policies to optimize asset utilization.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the finance team, ensuring alignment with company goals and priorities.

  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the finance organization and across the company.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA preferred.

  • Proven experience 10+ in finance leadership roles, preferably within the telecommunications industry and/or private equity-backed companies.

  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (GAAP), and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, as well as advanced MS Excel skills
