Job Summary:

There is an exciting opportunity in the Air & Space Defense Systems strategic business unit for an Associate Director of Software Engineering. As the Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, you will be responsible for shaping the future of Mission Solutions & Payloads portfolio of Software technology and leading highly skilled & dedicated Software engineers accountable for the delivering Space Sensors’ products and services. As a high performing IPT lead, you will support proposals and lead the execution of the Software baseline management plan through coordination with external customers, multiple engineering disciplines, and functional leadership. Earned Valued Management expertise is required to communicate status as you are accountable for EACs, LREs, and agile software development metrics.

This position is an onsite role located in El Segundo as an on-site lead.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Support the program management planning, daily execution, and coordination of the Mission Solutions & Payloads program.

  • Overall responsible for the monitoring and tracking metrics, budgets, and schedules for the program. This includes quarterly EACs, monthly LREs, PPRs, PMRs, TIMs, and other program milestones.

  • Responsible for managing multiple deliverables which are also aligned with system requirements. Responsible for properly communicating staffing needs, performing EAC’s and meeting critical development and release timelines.

  • Understand and integrate program deliverables to leverage the DevSecOps pipeline and tool suites.

  • Establish a strong relationship with the program area, customer, and related programs to further invoke confidence in the ability to successfully complete use case demonstrations in a timely manner per the budget.

  • Incorporate Integration and Test automation and Software Modernization aspects to and streamline deliverables and increase productivity.

  • Provide Leadership, Vision, Strategy, and guidance to ensure the goals of the IPT align with the overall Mission Solutions & Payloads portfolio.

  • Support the Mission Solutions & Payloads program area in future growth through proposal development, contract continuation, and the deployment and continual improvement of people, processes, and tools.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and twelve (12) years of engineering experience.

  • Integrated Program Team Lead or Program Management experience.

  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance..

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • IPTL and CAM experience on multimillion dollar programs from program inception to delivery including demonstration experience with monthly metrics, BCRs, replanning, rolling wave, planned packages, scheduling, variances, and reporting to leadership.

  • Experience Space signal processing and RF or IR experience in software development and/or integration.

  • Experience with Space customers and/or associated contractor executives and technical leadership.

  • Strong background is Software Development through entire lifecycle including System/Customer site Integration.

  • Prior experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master with Atlassian tool suite and Jira.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including strong presentation and proposal skills.

  • Proactive, comfortable working in a fast-paced, and multi-tiered environment.

  • Ability to work between and knowledge of multiple disciplines and provide software definition and vision.

  • Experienced with improvement and efficiency methods aimed at complex problem solving.

  • Ability to work with technical team to identify technical risks and opportunities and work develop mitigation plans across engineering disciplines.

  • Top Secret clearance is preferred

  • Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

  • Hybrid : Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

  • Remote : Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Clearance Information: This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 158,000 USD - 316,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
