We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager to join our night shift for our site in East Leake (near East Midlands airport), for our contract with British Gypsum. We’re looking for someone to lead our busy operation, ensuring the daily transport plan is executed safely, legally and on time. You’ll work Monday – Friday 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm shifts and take responsibility for 80 tractor units and 250 trailers across sites.

Pay, benefits and more:

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £42,000 per annum dependant on shift time. In addition, we offer 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days. What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Manage the team of drivers and warehouse operatives to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of the transport plan and coordination of operations with our customer.

• Ensure all processes and procedures are followed and that we operate in a safe and efficient environment and that colleagues are fully conversant with expectations and that we adhere to all compliance and legal requirements.

• Provide leadership and guidance for the team, managing performance and developing colleagues to reach their full potential.

• Provide accurate KPIs internally and to the customer

• Effectively execute the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resource available at site and take corrective actions as appropriate

• Health and safety are at the heart of everything we do so, you’ll work closely with our QHSE team to maintain our road to zero project

• Work with a view of continuous improvement, day-in, day-out – we know we’re good at what we do, we want to continuously strive to be better

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• It’s important you have exposure of working in a fast-paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet

• You must have an up to date CPC

• Strong stakeholder and people management skills

• You must have experience working in a Transport Shift Management position

• H&S qualifications will be highly desirable
