Job Description

This position serves as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer of the Compliance & Corporate Governance Division (CCGD) and is responsible for managing the Compliance Specialist/HR Liaison and Data Governance Specialist, along with the data governance initiatives and BOI Records Management program. This position reviews matters of business and transactional law for the State of Michigan Retirement System (SMRS) pension fund and other trusts and agencies (DCTA) where the State Treasurer is granted investment discretion and which the Bureau of Investments (BOI) manages investments assets on behalf of. This position establishes priorities based on time sensitivity of the investment opportunity, works independently, and proceeds with BOI objectives. This position also supports CCGD by monitoring investment compliance statutory thresholds, monitoring regulatory filings/changes impacting private and public market investments, responding to securities litigation matters, coordinating the State’s divestment practices, managing proxy voting responsibilities pursuant to Public Act 314 of 1965 and other applicable statutes. Additionally, this position supports BOI staff by carrying out special projects, as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Alternate Education and Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, one year of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Remote Work: This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays , and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
