Henry Ford Health System Associate Chief Quality Officer in Detroit, Michigan

Henry Ford Hospital is seeking an Associate Chief Quality Officer who will be responsible for implementing strategy and for operational leadership for Quality, Safety, and Reliability programs and initiatives including quality assurance, performance improvement, regulatory, compliance, and risk. The campus includes the hospital and on-site ambulatory procedural areas. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer of Henry Ford Hospital, with matrixed reporting to the CQO of Henry Ford Health.

  1. Ensures and promotes the delivery of high-quality care by providing clinical oversight to the quality improvement, safety, and patient experience initiatives. Including a focus on reduction in harm; culture of safety and reliability, and innovation.

  2. In collaboration with Henry Ford Hospital CMO, Henry Ford Health CQO, Henry Ford Health CMO, Henry Ford Hospital ACMO, Director of Quality, and executive team, and other leaders, provide overall direction necessary to ensure that clinical services are provided in accordance with standards established through state and federal regulations, including the Joint Commission, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other relevant accreditation agencies.

  3. Supports a comprehensive reliability-driven Organizational Quality and Patient Safety Program to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and employees as well as improved clinical value/efficiency. This includes ensuring continued compliance with Serious Safety Event reporting, root cause analysis and performance improvement activities to achieve zero harm.

  4. Reviews and analyzes quality metrics and identifies opportunities for process improvement.

  5. Collaborates with the quality and executive team for performance measurement, attainment of goals and performance of improvement activities to achieve maximal gain in healthcare outcomes and patient safe practices.

  6. Participates in the analysis of all unexpected clinical outcomes and report harmful patient errors.

  7. Provides expertise and helps facilitate the root cause analysis process regarding unexpected patient outcomes.

  8. Collaborates and provides direction to guide overall quality, safety, and appropriate regulatory activities throughout the hospital.

  9. Participates in Henry Ford Hospital process improvement initiatives.

  10. May report out on quality and safety initiatives at Medical Executive and Executive Leadership meetings as requested.

  11. Collaborates with the clinical staff to develop processes to achieve quality outcome objectives.

  12. Collaborates to ensure medical staff compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, regulatory standards, and other licensure requirements.

  13. Provides direction, and collaborates with leadership, to inform clinical informatics usage and electronic health record optimization to ensure quality, safety, and performance excellence.

  14. Utilize data analytics to ensure consistent feedback is provided for all involved care providers regarding specific patient experience and quality performance results.

  15. Fosters the achievement of hospital quality goals while addressing deficiencies that might lead to penalties.

  16. Supports compliance and achievement of all based Pay for Performance program goals such as BCBSM Clinical Quality Initiatives (CQI) and MHA Keystone.

  17. Supports work that improves Henry Ford Hospital’s position concerning external reputation scoring systems.

  18. Maintains/obtains knowledge and then provides education regarding the relationship of quality with patient experience. Leads and provides direction for patient experience improvement initiatives, including, but not limited to US News and World Report, CMS Star ratings, and Leapfrog.

  19. Serves as an administrative liaison to the medical staff, officers, committee chairpersons, and physician leaders, and assists as necessary in managing medical staff affairs.

  20. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

    · Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of a three (3) year U.S. residency program and must be board certified in their specialty.

    · Minimum of seven (7) years practicing as a physician.

    · Previous experience in infection prevention/control, patient safety, and/or regulatory readiness is preferred.

    · Michigan medical licensure and DEA, if required to practice in his/her specialty. Board certification in his/her specialty.
