As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will assist in the creation, development and documentation of new processes to optimise safety and efficiency across the product range. You will provide support for the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing systems,

assembly processes, and advanced technology.

This position is responsible for providing technical expertise within the Manufacturing Engineering function with a focus on implementing new processes and systems. Work assignments may be specialised in nature but may also be broad based with collaboration between teams to complete a larger project.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the implementation of manufacturing process improvements for PQVC benefits.

  • Supporting team members to deliver large scale manufacturing projects.

  • Working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to deliver projects.

  • Using CAD software to model new and existing assembly fixtures and jigs.

  • Using problem solving methodologies, including leading 1PD investigations to PCA closure.

  • Developing training materials to support new process introduction.

  • Identifying departmental training gaps and making recommendations for improvements, including driving own personal development.

  • Adhering to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties.

Required experience:

  • Technical or university degree in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment including knowledge of manufacturing operations, facility planning, and tooling requirements.

  • Experience using CAD modelling software packages.

  • Communication skills, and ability to work within cross-functional teams.

  • Be self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

  • Experience of CPPD in current and new product introductions.

  • APQP knowledge with process criticality and AIAG process flow, PFMEA and control plan.

Desired experience:

  • Cross functional problem-solving skills, utilising Caterpillar Lean and six sigma methodologies.

  • Coach & Lead team members through problem solving initiatives; BIQ; 1PD etc.

  • Thorough understanding of BOM structure, including next level top level relationships and the ability to create, maintain and troubleshoot Glovia BOM routings.

  • Experience in manufacturing software systems including pick to light, BHL cab fuse panel and display configuration software.

  • Previous experience using Siemens Teamcenter software.

  • Experience using Creo CAD modelling software.

  • Experience creating process instructions/standard work and risk assessments.

Salary: £33,500-£40,000 depending on experience
