R&D Engr/Scientist II

R&D Engr/Scientist II for UOP LLC in Des Plaines, IL

Responsibilities:

Work with occasional supervision to build, maintain and install analytical instrumentation in pilot plant areas.

Collaborates with senior personnel to troubleshoot problems with analytical equipment and related systems.

Uses experience to discuss and recommend what equipment and analysis should be implemented in areas.

Understands the relationship between adverse environmental conditions and the performance of online equipment.

Troubleshoots in collaboration with pilot plant technicians and researchers to verify analyses and plant operations when problems arise.

Develops a general knowledge of standard UOP processes and R&D pilot plants.

•Location: Des Plaines, IL

•40 hours/week

YOU MUST HAVE:

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, Mathematics or a related physical science, and 2 years of experience in Chemical Engineering. Full term of experience must include: research experience with instrumental analytical chemistry procedures, including quantitative analysis and applied statistical analysis to complex data sets; understanding of gas chromatography principles as well as experience with the use, repair and calibration of online gas chromatographs; designing experiments and conducting applied research; computer literacy including the ability to use a variety of software such as Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with one of the following softwares: ChemStation OR Empower OR Chromeleon OR Atlas; and working in an intensive HS&E environment.
