What You'll Do

We're looking for a Sr Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit and Risk Consulting team! In this role, you will work closely with leaders and employees within banking and retirement areas of Principal to help meet company strategic objectives by performing risk-focused, process-based internal audits and risk consulting services.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Analyze business processes and assess the adequacy of risk mitigation and control activities.

• Analyze procedures, controls and/or system applications to ensure the integrity of information.

• Analyze system controls and use data to perform detailed analysis.

• Document insights and detailed process risk/controls.

• Perform tests to assure risk management strategies are functioning effectively.

• Consult with business partners to develop action plans for risk management strategies that align with goals and objectives.

• Research industry and organization risk management and compliance issues, prepare written audit reports for senior management.

Who You Are

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of professional experience in audit, banking, or retirement.

• Critical thinking, digital/data analytic capabilities, project management and organizational skills that enable effective work within a dynamic team environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively, including listening, verbal, and written skills.

• General business acumen based on relevant industry experience and/or understanding of audit, risk, and control concepts.

• A depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding across key aspects of the business operations in support of credibility, relationship management and impact of audit work.

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other professional designations a plus, pursuit of internal audit certification will be encouraged and supported within the role.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$77350 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
