Sunrun Senior Tax Accountant in Denver, Colorado

Sunrun is looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. This position is eligible to work from home in any state in which Sunrun currently operates. A very limited amount of travel may be required. This is an excellent opportunity to join a tax team navigating a wide variety of tax compliance and reporting complexities that will establish a solid foundation of business tax experience.

The Senior Tax Accountant will assist with the responsibilities and deliverables of the Company’s various tax filings, with a primary focus on corporate income tax and an opportunity to work on partnership income tax compliance.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists in the calculation, preparation, and reviews of schedules for the quarterly income tax provision

  • Prepares quarterly income tax footnotes and disclosures in connection with the Company’s SEC reporting

  • Compiles data and prepares or reviews workpapers to support income tax compliance, including state and local apportionment, and other special projects

  • Calculates and prepares corporate quarterly estimated tax payments and annual extensions

  • Coordinates the preparation, review and filing of federal and state and local corporate income tax returns and related schedules

  • Provides assistance on tax related audits

  • Assists with research to ensure compliance with federal and state and local tax laws and regulations, especially as the Company enters into new jurisdictions

  • Monitors and adapts to changes in tax laws and effectively communicates the impacts to management

  • Identifies opportunities for increased efficiencies and accuracy

  • Assists with tax-related general ledger account reconciliations

  • As needed, prepare quarterly hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) calculations for tax equity funds

  • As needed, assist with the preparation of tax equity fund annual workpapers and tax return filings

  • As needed, assists management with other tax reporting and compliance projects

The ideal candidate would have the following education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required, graduate degree specialized in tax preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of experience preparing and filing tax returns with local, state, and federal taxing agencies, preferably with some in a public reporting entity

  • Experience with solar investment tax credits and tax equity structures preferred

  • Strong technical tax knowledge

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail

  • Quick learner and able to work independently

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to use Excel to organize and analyze data sets using pivot tables, functions, and other tools

  • CPA preferred

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$73,476.90 to $97,969.20

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards.
