Job Summary

Responsible for providing a wide range of value added complex technical analytics to support Pharmacy Service and other Pharmacy, Health and Wellness initiatives. Provides operational recommendations based on those analytics. Responsible for collecting and analyzing performance data, and developing business performance reports and analysis that support key decision making. Responsible for creating and maintaining databases and analytics websites to collect analyze and disseminate operational data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining, designing, building, and preparing daily, weekly, monthly, user customizable, and adhoc operations reports and analysis on key operational metrics.

  • Collaborates with management in defining broader pharmacy analytics strategy.

  • Mentors/coaches/trains/ provides assistance to other analysts within the department.

  • Researches, analyzes and explains current and past activity, expected trends and potential effect of change. Presents and supports findings and recommendations to various management levels within the organization.

  • Develops and reports on nonstandard metrics that require an in-depth knowledge of Walgreen pharmacy operations.

  • Evaluates data collected and accurately identifies and interprets trends. Based on findings, prepares and communicates results and recommendations to various levels of senior management. Ensures accuracy of all reported data by continually reviewing and analyzing current sources, processes, and systems functions. Prepares graphs, spreadsheets, reports, and PowerPoint presentations as required.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on pharmacy service performance metrics analysis, design, development, and the execution of queries, business reports and dashboards. Uses statistical methodologies to describe and model behaviors, transaction volumes, and performance measures.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, and other tracking mechanisms. Continually reviews and analyzes data maintenance processes to enhance data integrity.

  • Collaborates with pharmacy services teams and other internal departments to initiate/implement improvements and efficiencies related to analytics needs.

  • Creates and maintains tools that will automate analytics, such as web-based reporting. Establishes reporting standards and criteria and maintains data and reporting integrity.

  • Defines and develops requirements for reporting to all levels within the management structure, and methodology for calculations for metrics and/or analysis.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and at least Three (3) years of experience in an analytical or pharmacy role, OR High School diploma/GED and at least Six (6) years of experience in an analytical or pharmacy role.

  • Experience in analytical and problem solving.

  • Experience in querying large databases.

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).

  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Experience collaborating with internal resources, and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.

  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.

  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Retail Pharmacy Experience.

  • Advanced level skill programming in Visual Basic and HTML and experience with ASP.Net and Microsoft SQL Server Visual Studio to design and create robust web analytics tools to drive operational performance.

  • Intermediate level skill in SQL (for example: create complex queries using nested SELECT statements, simplify queries by creating new views, deleting and altering tables, using Boolean logic, working with NULL values and/or constructing queries).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: changing picture styles, customizing animation and/or setting automatic slide timings).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: adding developer tab, creating a macro, formatting table style, inserting comments and/or creating a mail merge).

  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
