Litehouse Supervisor, Quality Assurance in Danville, Virginia
Basic Purpose and Scope:
The QA Supervisor promotes quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization. Ensures compliance with standards and regulations through inspections, testing, record-keeping and provides overall quality assurance support.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest standards of quality are met, and continuously seek out opportunities to improve products, practices, and processes
- Ensure compliance with national (third party audits), international (GFSI-SQF), and regulatory (FSMA) standards through implementation and enforcement of policy and procedure
- Model correct behavior in the principles of quality manufacturing as they relate to the food industry such as HACCP, GMP and SQF
- Manage and maintain quality inspections, product release and hold programs implemented at the plant level, for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods
- Inspect product throughout production cycle and conduct inspection, testing and sampling activities
- Ensure first case checks are completed at startup and checks are collected at designated intervals throughout production
- Participate in the corrective action process (internal, customer, regulatory, etc) including root cause analysis, identification of corrective action, and verification of corrections
- Analyze existing data sources (MVI, NWA) to identify and correct issues. Prepare reports (charts, papers, etc) appropriate for the intended audience
- Review, update, and standardize current policies to ensure they are compliant with corporate policy, regulatory requirements, and identified best practices
- Lead and respond to customer or consumer complaint investigations
- Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary
- Perform routine housekeeping audits; report issues and follow-up on corrective actions
- Primary backup in the plant for all quality and food safety issues
- Other duties and activities as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM WORK:
- High school diploma/GED. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
- Minimum of 1-year experience and/or training
- Some working knowledge of ROSS or other inventory management system, NWA or other statistical analysis system and SharePoint or other similar system is preferred
- Familiar with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Must be able to work productively and independently at a self-established pace and seek direction as needed
- Ability to understand and use all necessary laboratory testing equipment (including but not limited to: pH meters and moisture analyzers) including setup, calibration, basic maintenance and troubleshooting
- Sound understanding of basic and advanced mathematics, with some basic statistical knowledge preferred
