Synchrony VP, Compliance Change Governance & Tech Oversight in Dallas, Texas

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Reporting to the VP, Regulatory Governance & Shared Services, this individual will be responsible for supporting change management, with a focus on business change events that leverage information technology solutions. This will include participation and partnering in the Agile development governance framework, effective challenge and oversight of information technology functions that impacts compliance with consumer financial laws, including IT control designs that effectively manage compliance risk.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective challenge of the development and implementation of business change events, including a deeper view of the IT systems and software development life cycle (SDLC) where business change events can impact compliance with consumer financial protection laws

  • Perform concurrent and targeted reviews of Information Technology (IT) processes and controls to ensure compliance with consumer financial protection laws and identify observations or findings with respect to necessary enhancement

  • Participate in the development and provide effective challenge and oversight of Synchrony's enhanced business change governance process

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of information technology change management, governance teams, including where Compliance risks are structured in the day-to-day change management process

  • Evaluate eGRC compliance issues with IT functional ownership to identify themes and trends and enhancement opportunities to strengthen IT processes and controls to ensure compliance with consumer financial protection legal and regulatory requirements

  • Support the ongoing oversight and effective challenge of Synchrony's Digital First strategic initiative

  • Establish effective relationships with functional areas delivering on technology solutions and change governance

  • Ensure significant risks are promptly escalated to the appropriate level

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years financial services experience. In lieu of degree, 9+ years of financial services and/or IT change governance experience

  • 5+ years of Compliance, Risk, IT Audit, or IT change governance experience in the financial services industry with knowledge of Agile methodology and SDLC

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advance Certification: Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Working knowledge of Information Technology Frameworks (SAFe Agile, IT applications and systems, SDLC, IT controls)

  • Knowledge with IT auditing tools and techniques is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to influence and work across a matrixed organization

  • Demonstrated strategic and process skills with proven ability to execute

  • Team player in fast-paced, high-energy environment

  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to effectively challenge status quo to influence change

  • Goal oriented, self-motivated

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
