Santander US Tax Analyst in Dallas, Texas

Tax Analyst

The Tax Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day tax reporting actions focused on supporting, administering, preparing reports and analysis in accordance with compliance and standard operating procedures.

The Tax function prepares income tax returns and indirect tax filings. Provides research and advice on tax-related matters.

  • Collaborates with other departments across the organization to gather data for tax return preparation;

  • Assists with various tax planning and research projects such as the review of proposed transactions and new business initiatives; prepares written memorandums documenting findings.

  • Prepares quarterly and annual tax provisions for financial statements including gathering data, analyzing results, and communicating outcomes;

  • Monitors tax and accounting rules for changes applicable to the Company.

  • Researches and responds to queries from tax authorities and requests from external auditors;

  • Performs analytical review of corporate tax balances.

  • Researches open items for assigned reconciliations; communicates with team members to resolve and clear any outstanding issues.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual indirect tax returns. Completes tax accounting and reconciliations. Prepares provisions for financial statements including gathering data, analyzing results, and communicating outcomes;

  • Provides clerical and/or administrative support for the corporate tax department as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent field.

  • Broad theoretical knowledge of taxation practices and reporting procedures.

  • Ability to follow guidelines and standard operating procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to focus on details to ensure and maintain data accuracy.

  • Proficient data entry skills.

  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
