In this position you will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shape the future of spatial computing. Apple is looking for a world class engineer to lead an optical module development for Vision products. You will be reporting to a senior leader and manage a dedicated team from various fields. Your responsibility is to design, development, manufacture and eventually deliver an outstanding optical module to system with highest quality standard in mass production. You will be heavily interacting with suppliers and various in-house technology, product, operation and business teams to achieve the goal. A successful candidate must be bold in envisioning, yet practical and experienced in execution. The job is highly technical and requires deep expertise in optics and associated technical branches. As a team leader your are encouraged to apply critical thinking, and engage in debate. You should be capable to focus your team, and simplify situation for your team. You need to demand for excellence and not relent. A successful leader at Apple should also become better at enlisting and leading multi-functional teams towards common product goal.

Key Qualifications

  • Engineering background in optical, opto-mechanical, or mechanical design

  • Successful track of record leading optical systems and shipping in mass production

  • Strong vertical and horizontal leadership

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Capability & flexibility to operate at different layers in the stack based on needs

Description

Ownership of an outstanding optical module. Work with system team to define the product level goal, and design the module that meets the goal. Lead multi-functional teams through engineering build cycles. Pass all product and module performance requirements and manufacturing yield & quality targets. Deliver the module & product in mass production. Drive supply chain to build accurate infrastructure in order to deliver high quality product. Drive internal tools and infrastructure development to make engineering work efficient and detailed. Drive the roadmap from product perspective. Partner with Core Tech teams to define the technologies deliverables to feed into the roadmap.

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer electronics.

  • Experience managing domestic and international vendors.

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $242,700.00 and $364,100.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
