UPMC Diagnostic Technologist in Cumberland, Maryland

UPMC Western Maryland is looking for a casual Diagnostic Technologist to join their team of life-changers! This position will work varying shifts to support department needs. The Diagnostic Technologist performs imaging procedures at an advanced level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.

  • Performs all job responsibilities of Diagnostic Tech I.

  • Demonstrates competency of specialty equipment (O.R., Fluoro Procedures, etc.) and analyzes data promptly. Performs electrocardiograms and lab draw functions if applicable.

  • Monitors quality control activities and demonstrates advanced level of knowledge in Diagnostic Imaging by providing patient care as defined by the most up to day protocols and procedures.

  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.

  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.

  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.

  • Assist with the training of staff and student technologists.

Diagnostic Technician

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.

  • Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.

Diagnostic Technician Adv.

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.

  • 2 years Diagnostic experience required.

  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • ARRT Certificate. ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 12 months of hire date.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Radiographer - MD
