Guthrie Sr. Dir, Long Term Care - RCF Administration - Full Time in Cortland, New York

Position Summary:

Provides leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of the Long‐Term Care Division at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC). Plans, organizes, and monitors activities to insure efficient delivery of high‐quality health care services in compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations and established objectives. Understands and adheres to GCMC’s Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal state and local regulations, GCMC policies as they presently exist and as they are changed or modified.

Education, License & Cert:

Bachelor’s Degree required LNHA‐NY Licensed Nursing Home Administrator‐ New York State

Experience:

Minimum of three years’ experience as a Nursing Home Administrator, preferably in a Hospital based setting. Successful relationships with the external regulators and proven skills in Quality Assurance/Risk Management and fiscal responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Understands and adheres to GCMC’s compliance standards as they appear in GCMC’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

• Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

• Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.

• Develop and recommend to the President/CEO an annual capital equipment budget, an annual operation budget, and policies necessary to implement these budgets to achieve efficient operations. Provides assistance to supervisory personnel in establishing department objectives, determining staffing needs and standards of productivity.

• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing healthcare delivery and rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring operations, programs, and physical plant. Maintains awareness of changes in the regulatory environment and advises other members of the management staff as needed.

• Assures that an effective quality improvement plan is developed, implemented, and supported by Department Managers.

• Represents GCMC in its relationships with other health agencies, organizations, groups; and in dealings with government agencies and third‐party payers. May assign administrative support personnel, department managers, or others to this task.

• Insures the provision of services by the acquisition, utilization, and organization of available resources (human, financial and physical) and the development of improved techniques

• Consults with and advises department managers on a regular basis; evaluate competence of work force and make changes as necessary; keep lines of communication open; seek to maintain high employee morale and a professional, healthful atmosphere and environment.

• Encourages the integration of GCMC Long Term Care Services in the community through effective communication and community relations programs.

• Maintains professional affiliations and enhance professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in health care administration.

• Assigns responsibility and delegates authority establishing clear expectations within reasonable timeframes, providing support as appropriate.

• Assures that safety/risk management activities are reported monthly to the Safety Committee and/or the Medical Center’s Risk Manager and assists the Risk Manager with follow‐up as requested.

• Consults with Administration and Fiscal Services concerning budgets, major purchase priorities and staffing needs.

• Regularly attends management staff meetings, participates in discussions, and provides summary reports of appropriate issues and activities to Managers within the division.

• Maintains smooth, functioning, efficient operations through timely and effective resolution of intra and inter‐divisional goals and objectives and of the annual strategic plan.

• Assists President, Management Team, applicable department and committees in short‐ and long‐range planning, including the establishment and implementation of annual hospital and divisional goals and objectives and annual strategic plan.

Salary range min $56.28/hr max $87.84/hr
