Alcorn School District Bus Mechanic in Corinth, Mississippi

students; to oversee Transportation System in the absence of the Supervisor, and to do related work as assigned. B. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Porform complex mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of school buses and ather automotive equipment. 2. Repair and replace clutches, brakes, cylinder linings, connecting rods, boarings, rings, and crankshafts. 3. Adjusi carburolors and tune engines. 4. Replace transmissions and differentlals. 5. Reface, reseat. and adjust valves. 6. Parform elecincal trouble shocting. 7. Repair and replace starters, generators, distributors, relays, and other automotive electrical equipment. 8. Perform various welding tasks. 9. Repair and replace bus seats windows, and windshields as necessary. 10. Request repair parts and accessories as needed. 11. Make emergency repairs to buses in the field. 12. Maintain records of repair and maintenance work. 13. Meintain bus garage in a safe, cleen working condillon al all times. 14. Assign work ta other mechanics and check accuracy at completion. 15. Operato a school bus. 16 Able to fix flats and change bus lires. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Knowledge of: a. Tools, equipment and procedures used in the overhaul, repair, and adjustment of a vanety of buses and other automotive equipment. b. Principals and methods used in a program of preventive maintenance mechanical equipment. c. Safety rules and their application lo all machine operations. 2. Ability to: a. Plan, layout, supervise, inspect and assist in automotive equipment repair work. b. Locate and diagnose mechanical defects. use and knowledge of diagnostics equipment. c. Use skillfully the tools and equipment necessary in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty automotive equipment. d. Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work. Exercise safe driving praclices and maintain a safe driving record. f. Follow oral and written insiructions. 3. Licensing: a. Have or be able lo obtaln: Valid Class B C.D.L. wilh P & S endorsement. 2. Possession and maintanence of an appropriate valid MS School Bus Cortificalo as issued by the Department of Motor Vehicle D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT 1. Incorporated within one or more of the essential functions of this position are the following essential physical requirement: a Ability to see for the purposes of reading instructions, maps, labels, documents and other printed matter, for lhe safe operation of equ school bus and observing students. b. Ability to bear and understand speech at normal levels in person, on the telephone, andior on two-way radio. c. Vahicle garage working anvironmants subjact to banding, grouching, knoeling and lying near and under vehicle, pushing/pulling of pauipmer in all directions, long periods of standing/walking and, with approprate anfety aquipment, warlang with asbeatos-containing vanicle parte or doto/gunts and other chemicals. 2. Senoal bus warking anvironment subjeat to sitting for long periods of lime, bonding to clean the bus.
