The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with significant expertise in Jewish-American literature of any period. Additional scholarly expertise in the digital humanities, creative writing, or in the research and pedagogical uses of artificial intelligence would also be welcome. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate survey courses on Jewish-American themes and authors and on Holocaust literature. They will also be expected to teach other courses focused on their period of specialization and to contribute to the department’s intellectual life by pursuing an active research agenda; teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; directing dissertations; and serving on departmental, college, and/or university committees. We seek candidates with diverse scholarly interests whose teaching and research interests intersect with the work of other faculty in English and elsewhere in the College of Arts and Sciences, especially in The George Feldenkreis Program in Judaic Studies and the Sue and Leonard Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies. Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in English with specialization in Jewish-American literature in hand by time of appointment; a strong and active publishing agenda; a record of excellence in college-level teaching; and a commitment to leadership and innovation in the study of Jewish-American literature and culture.
