Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of design professionals and technicians.

  • Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams.

  • Perform business development tasks and collaborates with staff to increase project wins and develop long lasting client relationships.

Routine tasks include:

  • Manage and develop proposals in a collaborative team environment.

  • Client facing for business development communications, meetings, and presentations.

  • Develop scope of work documents and cost estimates

  • Collaborate with a variety of professionals to develop opportunities.

  • Perform quality reviews

  • Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.

  • Perform complex engineering design tasks on water and wastewater projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines

Routine technical tasks include:

  • Development of basis of design documents

  • Perform engineering calculations

  • Advise on material and equipment sizing and selection

  • Deliver engineering drawings and specifications

  • Deliver engineering reports

  • Deliver feasibility studies

  • Present to clients, regulatory agencies and/or project stakeholders

  • Conduct quality reviews

  • Assist with the management of the planning, design, and construction of projects

  • Develop project management plans for projects; establishes goals and objectives for unique and complex projects

  • Responsible for successfully achieving project budget, schedule, and contractual deliverable obligations

  • Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitates independent technical review projects by others

  • Engage in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel

  • Accountable for making decisions on projects and coordinating with the regulatory review to seek final approval

  • Manage projects of varying complexity within multidisciplinary teams

  • Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects

  • Assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting

  • Oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort

  • You supervise local staff and are responsible for mentoring and coaching future leaders, including the development of succession plans for key positions

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • You inspire project teams to higher levels of achievement.

  • You consistently engage staff in discussions on job satisfaction and engagement and provide ongoing recognition and feedback to employees and teams.

  • Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings.

  • Understanding of construction methods for sewer and water infrastructure, is considered an asset.

  • Demonstrates strong understanding of construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction methods and defining work area limits.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years related experience in project management, preferably for water and wastewater infrastructure design projects.

  • Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Ohio or ability to obtain license within 6 months.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; and change management.

Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.
