JPMorgan Chase Risk Management - Asset Wealth Management - Latin America Global Families - Lead Credit Officer, Vice President in Columbus, Ohio

The Wealth Management (WM) Credit Risk team is seeking a Lead Credit Officer - Vice President to manage credit exposure for WM clients, with a primary focus on credit risk management for International Private Bank clients covered by the WM Latin America & Global Families Group businesses. This role is within the JPMorgan Private Bank, a global wealth management leader that delivers the highest quality advice, service, capabilities and products to wealthy individuals and families in 36 countries around the world.

As a Credit Risk Lead in Wealth Management Credit Risk team, you'll be helping the firm grow its business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers and communities. The Private Bank delivers highly customized and tailored solutions to help clients with the challenges of substantial wealth, utilizing the Private Bank's discretionary investment management, brokerage, tax and estate planning, credit, capital raising and specialty wealth advisory services while leveraging the commercial and investment banking capabilities of the firm.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage credit risk management of International Private Bank clients covered by the Latin America & Global Families business, with primary ownership of managing portfolio risks within acceptable risk appetite and loss tolerances.

  • Understand WM Credit Risk appetite on wholesale loans, mortgages and trading exposures (i.e. OTC derivatives, futures and options, securities trading)

  • Approve credit risk exposure relating to the client base within authorized limits. Assign risk ratings, LGDs, and other risk metrics across the portfolio. Maintain satisfactory Audits across the credit portfolio.

  • Ensure that Risk exceptions in the portfolio are appropriately managed and escalated as required.

  • Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio, and direct the preparation of Portfolio Reviews.

  • Work closely with the Underwriting team and build an integrated approach to make credit decisions that incorporates underwriter input.

  • Partner with Business to credibly challenge opportunities / new initiatives while promoting a culture of Risk discipline across the organization.

  • Participate to strengthen Risk Policies / Underwriting Guidelines / procedures in partnership and work with Risk Policy team.

  • Challenge the status quo. Continuously strive to find better, more efficient ways to manage credit risk and business flow, including underwriting.

  • Actively participate in diversity, inclusion and equity efforts across the organization.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of professional experience related to financial services, risk management, compliance or legal

  • Strong decision making capabilities and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions

  • Ability to operate independently with confidence, to interact credibly with senior business stakeholders and build strong partnerships

  • Team player who collaborates effectively and is able to influence others

  • Thought leader able to generate innovate ideas to address challenges / inefficiencies

  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to learn complex processes that affect various functions and business units within Credit Risk Management

  • Highly organized, motivated and hard working with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to prepare and present senior level communications and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong technical (including Excel) skills
