Be a part of our Martin Equipment work family! We are a John Deere construction equipment dealership. We have an immediate need for a full-time Service Manager in our Columbia, Missouri location. Working hours are typically Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 5:00pm, and include Saturday rotation 6:30am – 12:00 Noon.

SUMMARY:

The Service Manager is responsible for supervising and scheduling all activities of the Service Department, including the repair and servicing of all rental and customer equipment (invoicing those repairs and services), the inspection of equipment before release to rental or customer, and the handling of customer complaints regarding equipment function or condition. Additionally the Service Manager is responsible for compliance with all company, government and vendor safety regulation and requirements. The Service Manager is also responsible for the scheduling of repairs of company vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise work of department staff to meet repair and maintenance needs to avoid unnecessary repairs and assure its readiness for use.

  • Manage the repair and maintenance of customer and company-owned equipment.

  • Supervise the maintenance of service records.

  • Ensure shop work, procedures and conditions comply with company, government and vendor safety requirements.

  • Work with equipment vendors to remain current regarding equipment maintenance requirements and the capabilities of new equipment added to inventory.

  • Handle customer complaints regarding equipment condition and operation.

  • Provide safety training to all shop staff.

  • Report damaged equipment so that customers may be billed for repairs.

  • Ensure paperwork is completed and submitted for warranty claims, and for new equipment placed in rental inventory or sold.

  • Certify that company vehicles and trailers used by the branch meet D.O.T. requirements

  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Verbal, mathematical and technical skills usually acquired with a high school diploma.

  • Seven to ten years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of equipment utilization and safety requirements.

  • Scheduling and supervisory experience desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting for extended periods.

  • Some climbing, bending, stooping, lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • Operation of a personal computer/terminal.

  • Hearing adequate to communicate by telephone and in person.

  • Vision adequate to examine equipment and manuals.

  • Manual dexterity.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • All required PPE is provided by Martin Equipment and includes, but is not limited to, protective glasses, gloves, and boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to petroleum solvents, paints and fumes.

  • Exposure to extreme heat or cold (20%)

  • Operation of mechanical equipment.

Pay rate dependent upon experience.

Background check including MVR and pre-employment drug screen required.
