El Paso County Program Assitant-WIC in Colorado Springs, Colorado

This position is responsible for the professional and efficient managing of clients, visitors, telephone calls and messages that flow through the WIC program. Also performs a variety of functions, including but not limited to, scheduling of clients, accurate processing of client administrative information, receiving department mail, and providing administrative support to the WIC program.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Greets and assists all clients and walk-in applicants at the WIC Front Desk. Assists with eWIC card benefit issuance and breast pump distribution for current WIC clients. Promptly, accurately, professionally, and courteously manages telephone calls to the Public Health WIC phone line. Assesses financial eligibility, schedules appointments, and makes appropriate referrals to other Health Department Programs and community resources. Maintains the confidentiality of clients. Utilizes and maintains computerized and manual clinic schedules, manual intakes, transfer requests, and office files. Maintains adequate stock of forms and office supplies. Responsible for the distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail/deliveries, faxes including but not limited to upkeep of postage equipment. Keeps immediate supervisor well-informed of activities, results of efforts and problems identified/potential problems; Recommends corrective actions to immediate supervisor. Maintains cleanliness of the clinic including but not limited to anthropometric stations and waiting rooms. Cleans breast pumps. May need to work from other WIC clinic sites as needed.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate, motivate, and organize projects among a broad spectrum of personnel, frequently under deadline pressure. Skill in demonstrating a cooperative, professional attitude to cultivate relationships both within and outside the organization. Skill in prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks and the ability to complete projects in a timely manner. Ability to respond in a flexible manner and reprioritize work as situations change. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. Ability to identify problems and work creativity to resolve them, considering the impact of actions on Public Health. Ability to identify results of efforts and problems identified/potential problems and to develop and recommend corrective actions to supervisor. Knowledge and understanding of company policies and procedures. Ability to write and maintain accurate records and reports to meet management objectives.
