The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation

Are you a unicorn that lives at the intersection of operations and MS&A? This position is for an analytic hands-on, individual contributing leader who will help deliver improvements upon near-term readiness across the CJFSCC operations centers, SpOC, and STARCOM, while secondarily informing longer-term programmatic decisions for SSC. The successful candidate will be able to provide experience-based and analytically informed technical expertise across these DoD partners, in particular in support of SpOC SPAFORGEN assessments and STARCOM's effort to develop gap analysis and requirements in support of rapid prototyping and long-term acquisition of USSF training and test infrastructure. The effort will include identification, development, and recommendation of capability needs for guardian training, exercises, wargames and enterprise test campaigns. Successful candidate will engage with USSF support to USSPACECOM, INDOPACOM as well as USSF SPOC and STAROCM to complete thoughtful requirements analysis and documentation.

Work Model This position is an 100% on-site role in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is not compatible with teleworking.

What You'll Be Doing Couple deep space domain expertise, either personally or in conjunction with a team, with your analytic savvy and focus on critical decision points for the community. Working closely with our SpOC, STARCOM, and space operational center partners Contribute to larger Defense Systems Group MS&A and analytic efforts focused on significant impact for our space ecosystem partners. Serve as a critical interface between operational, analytic, and acquisition communities. In the absence of clear direction, meet our DoD partners where they're at while helping lead them in the direction they need to progress. Translate requirements for exercises, test, and training of the space enterprise into meaningful requirements. Provide detailed technical expertise to support gap analysis and identification of requirements. Contribute to assessment of near-term prototyping of capabilities. Technical analysis, technical depth, and experience with USSF operations is necessary. Expertise with writing and managing joint requirements will be extremely helpful.

This position is available as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.

What You Need to be Successful Project Engineer Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline Six or more years of progr ssively responsible professional experience applicable to the position Experience with operations of space systems and/or command and control in a joint warfighting environment Ability to work independently, with initiative, to drive space enterprise improvements. Experience working with direct or indirect team of SMEs to deliver project success, including the development of a POAM, sometimes in the absence of detailed government guidance. Experience with VV&A for test and training models and simulation and the use of them to drive command decisions.
