Jabil Control Systems Engineer (PLC) in Clinton, Massachusetts

The Jabil Healthcare facility in Clinton, Massachusetts is one of the most unique manufacturing office settings in the world. Encased in a brick carpet mill from the 1840s is 95,000 square feet of cleanroom manufacturing and expansive office spaces.

The Devens site is located about 20 miles north of Clinton, Massachusetts. This state-of-the-art site produces healthcare products with start-to-finish capabilities in product and mold design and manufacture, injection molding and high speed automated assembly. The site includes 27,200 square feet of molding cleanrooms, 24,100 square feet of assembly cleanrooms, a mold maintenance shop, warehousing, offices and a metrology lab.

The manufacturing complex offers a wide range of capabilities to support all steps in our customers' product lifecycle, including product design, mold manufacturing, tooling, precision injection plastics molding, semi-automated and fully automated assembly, and final packaging. The site also provides product distribution and supply chain management for our customers.

JOB SUMMARYLeads large and/or complex engineering projects from initiation through to completion. Coordinates project planning, staffing, progress reporting, people management and troubleshooting for engineering projects. Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.

Leads the controls engineering efforts to ensure equipment software requirements are met.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the implementation of complex and/or large engineering projects, understanding and driving regulatory and compliance certifications as appropriate (eg. regulatory requirements surrounding ISO9000, ISO14000, ISO13485, AS9100, TUV).

  • Participates and may lead product or manufacturing development meetings, making recommendations for change.

  • In conjunction with the project, implement best practices for equipment/manufacturing layout for maximum efficiency and cycle time optimization.

  • Leads complex projects relating to new technical developments, software, and processes.

  • Provides engineered solutions to complex equipment problems

  • Delivers quotes for projects including new equipment costs, labor, maintenance costs, etc.

  • Drive continuous improvement and optimization utilizing proactive methodologies and trend analysis.

  • Assess the adequacy of data-gathering methods utilized by the teams.

  • During project implementation, leads the preparation, monitoring, and evaluation of equipment set-ups, manufacturing layout, and process changes and/or corrective actions.

  • Assesses manufacturing and engineering capabilities; identifies and suggests solutions for any immediate need or enhancements.

  • Provide ongoing direction and training on process development, root cause analysis, and systematic problem-solving.

  • Drives proactive participation with suppliers and (when possible) aids in their process improvement efforts.

  • Interface and provide technical support on quality issues with the customer as needed.

  • Assist Design Engineers with Design for

  • Manufacture issues.

  • Helps troubleshoot PLC and/or PC issues

JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in PLC logic (Allen Bradley) and PC programming

  • Proficiency in Java and/or C++

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Jabil operating policies and procedures required

  • Knowledge and experience of engineering in a manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), and e-mail skills required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required.

  • Minimum 6-8 years of work-related experience required in engineering or project management-related discipline.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
