Supervisor -Special Chemistry-Pathology Core Lab

Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER

Biweekly Hours: 80.00

Shift: M-F; 8 a - 5 p. with additional hours as needed

Summary:

Provides direct on-site analysis of the day-to-day operation including adjustment of specimen workflow, test performance, quality, compliance, and associated documentation to adhere to the applicable regulatory agencies, MetroHealth and Pathology policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation and supervision of the Special Chemistry area and to other assigned areas of the Laboratory. Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology and 5 years of laboratory bench experience as a Laboratory Technologist/Technician with three years of training and/or experience nonwaived Chemistry testing; OR Associate’s degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Technician and 8 years of laboratory bench experience as a Laboratory Technologist/Technician with 5 years of training and or experience nonwaived chemistry testing. Registered Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent registration.. Ability to perform moderate complexity testing competency assessments in accordance with CLIA –42CFR493.1413. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred: Registered Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent registration. Supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids. Ability to communicate face-to-face, via phone, email, and other communications. Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
