Aerotek Welding Inspector in Clackamas, Oregon

Description:

Small family-owned welding/fabrication shop that produces power station and power line structures for clients across the US. They have been family owned since they started in the 80s and are growing fast. They have a ton of work through the end of the year and they need an inspector to ensure their fabrications are built to spec based on blueprints and technical drawings and the welds are visually adequate. This person will work with the engineering team and fabricators to document/certify all products before they are shipped out.

Day Shift: Either 5am-1:30pm or 7am-3:30pm (based on preference)

  • Initiate ongoing audits and inspections to ensure the work performed meets or exceeds standards, issuing corrective action when needed.

  • Ensure all QC documentation is completed and retained to meet requirements.

  • Inform production management of any issues that will affect production, quality, or safety.

  • Performing dimensional inspections on steel pieces after assembly, inspecting welding preparations and tack welds, reporting, and addressing non-conformances, updating inspection progress in the system, interpreting plans and standards, and calibrating inspection tools.

  • Assist with on-site customer inspections.

  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints, use measurement tools and techniques to verify geometric tolerances of fabricated parts and assemblies.

  • Coordinating root cause analysis of defective products and presenting the findings to the production manager.

  • Performs regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety program policies and procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, keen attention to detail

  • Coaching, listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.

  • Knowledge in welding, metallurgy, steel fabrication, and reading blueprints. Ability to interpret codes, drawings, and specifications, maintain dimensional tolerances, and use measuring tools.

  • Qualified or able to obtain ASNT SNT-TC-1A qualification strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques and standards.

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a steel fabrication company performing QC tasks.
